Kazu Akiyama Featured in BBC Sky at Night Magazine's “Earth's Closest Black Holes”

August 2026 issue of BBC's Sky at Night Magazine

Prof Kazu Akiyama, the group leader, was featured in the “Earth's Closest Black Holes“ written by Paul Fisher Cockburn in the August 2026 issue of BBC's Sky at Night Magazine as a new UK-based black hole astronomer joining Heriot-Watt University. While the main focus is on Earth's closest black hole recently discovered by Gaia, the piece also explores our Event Horizon Telescope images of supermassive black holes.
